Preparing, Packing And Storing Your Cabbage Patch Kids Dolls

Cabbage Patch Kids have been a childhood staple since the 80's. Collecting these dolls is something that people of all ages take part in. If your Cabbage Patch Kids collection has outgrown your home, it's time to think about putting some of them in storage for a later date. Preparation

Your Cabbage Patch Kids should never be stored when their dirty. Before you pack them away, remove the clothing and shoes and give them a good cleaning. Set them out in the sun to dry before you continue to the packing step.

Cabbage Patch Kids that are still in their boxes won't need too much preparation work. You simply must clean the dust and dirt off of the boxes and plastic front. If you allow dirt and dust to remain on the box, the box will be discolored soon after you put them in storage.

Take pictures of all of the dolls so that you have a complete inventory log of who you have. This will not only help you keep track of your collection, but it will help to submit an insurance claim if something was to happen while they're being stored.

Packing

You don't want to just toss the dolls in a box and cross your fingers with the hopes that they'll remain in good condition while they're being stored. Instead, make a trip to your local wine and liquor store. They have sturdy boxes that have dividers built into them. These boxes are perfect for protecting Cabbage Patch Kids while they're being stored.

Once you have the box, wrap each doll loosely with tissue paper. The tissue paper will protect the faces from getting scuffed up in the box and keep any dust that makes its way into the box off of the doll. Slide a single doll in each compartment in the box and tape it up.

Dolls that are still boxed should be put in boxes. If you are putting more than one boxed doll in a box, slide a piece of cardboard between the two boxes to protect them as they shift around during transport.

Storage

Now that they're all packed up, it's time to put them somewhere safe. Do not store them in a hot attic or damp basement. The environment must be steady – no high humidity and no moisture.
