Making Your Move Easier: Stress-Free Ways To Relocate

Lois King

You may have recently decided to make a big move. If you are planning to relocate to a different city or state, you may have a whole lot of planning and work to do before the moving day arrives. While the thought of packing, transporting items, and cleaning might sound tedious and tiring, there are some ways to relocate to your new place without all the added stress.

Use Bags in a Creative Way to Pack Clothes

If your plan was to throw a bunch of clothes into bags and boxes, consider taking a different approach. Instead of removing the clothes from their hangers and piling them up in a box or bag, leave them on the hangers. While the clothes are hanging up, simply grab a trash bag with handles and place it at the bottom of the clothes, pulling it up and over them. When you have finished covering the clothes with the bag, the hangers should be sticking out. Tie the bag around the hangers, grab the whole set of clothes and place them right inside of a box.

As soon as you get to your new place, just rip the trash bag off because your clothes will still be on the hangers and ready to go in the closet.

Rent a Mobile Storage Unit

How tiring would it be to carry large furniture and other belongings to your vehicle and then transport them to a storage unit? If this is a task you were saving for last, why not rent out a mobile storage unit instead of a traditional unit? There are several advantages associated with mobile storage units. Some of these advantages include:

  • Have instant access to the unit outside of your home
  • Add items at your own convenience without traveling
  • Keep belongings secure with protective locks
  • Transport items when you feel like it

If you would like to take your time and prefer to avoid going back and forth to the storage unit warehouse, having a mobile unit outside your home may be the best solution for you.

Use Stickers to Color-Coordinate Boxes

Avoid searching for certain items through dozens of different boxes by color coordinating them. If all of your boxes look the same, purchase colorful labels that you can use to remind you of the different items that are in specific boxes. When you are packing those boxes, consider putting boxes of your must-have, essential items on the top so that you will have easy access to those items when you need them.

While you will have to put forth some effort to relocate to a new home, there are some ways to reduce the workload and eliminate some of the stress. Get creative, rent out a mobile storage unit, and make sure to coordinate your boxes so that you are not spending hours trying to find stuff as soon as you get to your new place.
