Remember To Inspect

One of the best things you can do to keep your metal carport in great condition for a longer period of time is to perform regular inspections. Most issues that arise, including rust, can quickly be resolved if they are caught early enough. Routine inspections can give you the quick alert you need.

For starters, consider looking over the carport at the change of each season. You can then add to your efforts by also looking over the unit after harsh weather. During your inspection, look for rust, holes, or any other damage.

Don't Forget To Wash

Just like you don't depend on the rain to clean your vehicle, you also shouldn't be relying on the rain to clean the carport. While this isn't to say that water can never rest on the surface, water that pools too long can create issues. First, the weight of the water or snow can cause the roof to fail and collapse. Pooling water can also increase the risk of rust development and it can even put too much pressure on the foundation that supports that carport, also causing issues. Ensure you're avoiding pooling water by installing a gutter and downspout system.
